Tasmania’s MechLog wins two national industry awards
November 4, 2019
Tasmania’s leading environmentally responsible forestry company, MechLog, has picked up two awards at the 2019 Green Triangle Timber Industry Awards.
The awards that recognise excellence in the forestry industry were presented at a gala event attended by more than 500 guests on Friday November 1 in Mount Gambier, South Australia.
MechLog’s CEO, Jillian Aylett Brown, said that her company was very proud and surprised to win two of the main awards.
“This is the second time we have entered the Green Triangle Timber Industry Awards. We entered to participate and to show support for the industry. To actually win two of the main awards was a fantastic surprise. Most of our team attended the awards, so we were so pleased they could see their hard work and commitment to MechLog recognised by the forestry industry,” Jillian said.
“We are immensely proud of our Green Triangle Manager, Ben Rosenthal, who won the ‘GTIIA 2019 Most Outstanding Contribution to the Timber Industry (Male) Award’, sponsored by Qube Ports.
“Ben is an outstanding member of the MechLog team and deserves his award. It is fitting recognition of Ben’s contribution to the industry and commitment to his career. The whole MechLog team is proud of Ben’s achievement,” Jillian added.
MechLog also received the prestigious 2019 Safety Excellence Award, sponsored by OneFortyOne, at the Green Triangle Timber Industry Awards.
“We are immensely proud of MechLog’s safety record, which is well above national average for the industry. Our commitment to the welfare and safety of every one of our 35 valued employees is based on exceeding what is expected of the forestry industry in a way that does not impact on productivity. The Safety Excellence Award is recognition of MechLog’s commitment to prioritising our staff and their wellbeing,” Jillian said.
Jillian Aylett Brown thanked the GTTIA and sponsors for hosting an exceptional night of celebration; and added that “MechLog is proud to be part of such a vibrant industry, which is ‘the ultimate renewable’”.
