Darryn joined MechLog in 2024 and brings 24 years of diverse forest industry expertise to the leadership team. His career includes experience working with large corporate forest-owner enterprises to forest contractor businesses in both Australia and South Africa.
Darryn’s experience ranges from hands-on, labour-intensive operations to managing innovative advanced technology systems in both silvicultural and harvesting disciplines. He is dedicated to balancing productivity, creativity, and innovation with a strong work ethic and a commitment to a progressive safety culture.
During his career in the forestry sector, Darryn has developed an extensive network of global industry contacts, which allows him to tap into a wide array of resources. This network gives him the resources required to navigate complex business environments with a keen eye for detail and a proactive attitude.
As General Manager, he is dedicated to enhancing all aspects of MechLog’s operations and is committed to fostering meaningful improvements. He believes in the power of a professional, enthusiastic, and motivated team working towards shared goals within a positive culture.
Darryn also supervises MechLog’s Work Health and Safety commitments with due attention to practical implementation and legislative compliance. He has oversight of operational risk, promotes safe work practices across all aspects of the business, and ensures that all procedures align with current regulatory requirements. His leadership reinforces MechLog’s broader culture of safety, accountability, and continuous improvement. This supports the welfare of the entire MechLog workforce.
Passionate about mentorship, Darryn is known for his friendly, approachable nature and his ability to engage with stakeholders at all levels. He is dedicated to developing new employees, guiding them through their career paths with a proven history of success.
Darryn holds a Bachelor of Technology in Forestry, a Diploma in Work Health and Safety, and is a Forest Practices Officer. He is also an accredited Mental Health First Aider and ICAM Lead Incident Investigator.
